What can I say? I just love my kids!

Yet another picture post!!!
I know, I know, there are a lot more pics of Champ here..I DO NOT play favorites...it's just that Beana girl was crying a lot and my friend and her mom were the photographers and they happened to capture more pics of Champ because we were too busy trying to get Beana girl to take a much needed nap...I'll make up for the less amount of pics of my baby girl...but isn't she just ADORABLE??? They both are so cute!!!!

p.s. Edwin Sr., aka Daddy, left on Sunday for a full week. He is fighting in the National Golden Gloves, a national tournament he won last year. He fights almost everyday unti lhe comes home...you fight, you move on, you lose and you're out of the tourney. Daddy has a lot to accomplish, but we know he can do it and remain the Champ! We are missing Daddy like crazy already, but thanks to the nurses and Grammy we are hanging in there! Can't wait until Sunday...(he also misses his Bday which is Sat. :( We'll celebrate when he gets home!)

Guess who rolled over?

Hello.
I'm happy to report that Miss Serena has made a habit our of rolling from her tummy to her back. She only likes to roll to her left side, but she has done it over a half dozen times since Sunday. The first time she did it I thought it was a fluke, but now she does it at least twice a day while doing tummy time. I hope it's not a fluke thing, and that I can count it as really rolling over (when she did it Sunday I didn't count it as the first time she rolled over, but now I think I will since she has repeated it so many times since.)
Edwin is so vocal it is incredible, he is also doing so well with his tummy time. We are very proud of their accomplishments. As moms of preemies know, every tiny developmental milestone that is met is a cause for great celebration.
Here are some cute pics from the past few days!
I'm soooo cute!

March of Dimes and a NICU visit

*UPDATE*
Daddy did make the paper...AGAIN (but this time it's credit to Serena Lynn!)

Walkers raise $150,000 for March of Dimes

WORCESTER— Edwin K. Rodriguez of Worcester holds his daughter, Serena L. Rodriguez, who was prematurely born, at the start of the March of Dimes WalkAmerica yesterday. Not shown in the photo are Rodriguez’s wife, Stephanie L. Rodriguez, and Serena’s twin, Edwin K. Rodriguez Jr. Hundreds of people converged on City Hall Common for the walk, a fundraising event to benefit issues of baby health. Participants navigated a 3-1/2-mile route in and around downtown, including Shrewsbury and Belmont streets, before gathering on the Common for music and food. Organizers say about 800 walkers helped raise about $150,000. Worcester’s march was one of eight in Massachusetts over a two-week span. Across the country, there will be 1,100 such fundraising events for the March of Dimes.

We had an amazing day. We walked in the WalkAmerica March of Dimes in our home city. We dressed the kids up and headed out into the beautiful weather. Everyone commented on how beautiful they are...we agree!

Champ slept through most of the walk...thank goodness...he is getting heavy!

Serena was held through almost the entire walk. She loved looking around!
I LOVE it outside!!!

Grammy and Beana

And again

We passed by the NICU on our walk, and talked to the nurses and neonatologists standing outside. It was hot and too sunny and the kids needed diaper changes and some lunch, so we decided not to finish the walk but to go into the NICU for some rest, shade, and a visit.

O2, RSV shots, weights, and Marching

Champ SMILE!

No way Jose!

Hello all.
Serena has made it a habit lately to pull out her cannula. She is only at 100ccs and has made a point to pull out her cannula a few times a day. I've watched her sats for awhile now (5-10 minutes here and there) and she is holding her own. Well yesterday she pulled it off and I watched her for an hour. Her sats barely moved from 100%, although one time she was kicking around and it read 95 for a second but even the heartrate wasn't picking up and when it did she immediately went back to 100%, so I barely count the 95 dip. Anyway I called the pulmonologist in between this hour, but he was seeing patients and didn't get back to me. I put her cannula back in becasue she began to fall asleep. He called me back this morning and told me since she mastered the hour, she can now go one hour without O2 every day for a week. The following week 2 hours, and then 4, 6, 8, etc as tolerated. She only has to maintain sats above 93% so I know she'll be a star and do well!

Edwin is also doing well, and now we can wean him by 50ccs weekly as opposed to every other week. He goes to 300ccs tomorrow, and once he gets to 100ccs like his sis, he can begin to spend time off too! We are so happy for them!

They had their last RSV shot today! Serena weighed 10 pounds 10 ounces!!! Edwin weighed 11 pounds 2 1/2 ounces! They are getting so big!

In other news, we are going to go to the March of Dimes walk for prematurity and will walk with the NICU team this year. We owe so much to the NICU and this year we will walk with them. Next year, we will walk under Team Serena and Edwin. I am very excited...it's suppose to be gorgeous out! :)

All in all everything is going well. Champ is so vocal and Serena is trying too. They are both doing great with tummy time, and are so much more active and awake for longer periods of time. They are very social and we are having a blast with them.

In Mommy news, I have been back to work since Tuesday (24 hours a week...~5 hours a day). It's going well, and even though I miss Beanie and Champ like crazy, I think I handled the transition back very well. Edwin Sr has been a HUGE help staying home when needed! Thanks love!
One more thing, I spoke with the Dean today about law school to verify they had swtiched me to the part time program. That was all set, but he went on to tell me (without my even bringing it up)that normally students lose their academic scholarships when they defer, but that they decided to give me my merit scholarship anyway! I was so excited...that's $8,000 a year! Thank you law school!!!!!
