Serena was well on her way to finishing an entire jar of guava this morning, until I discovered something WEIRD in it. Edwin insisted it was only guava skin, but I freaked. I immediately called the company and tried to describe as best I could what the hell it was. I put it in a baggy and refrigerated it and now am waiting until probably Tuesday for them to send me a box which I put the mysterious contents in and wait for the lab to test it and have someone call me to tell me what it was. I am worried, although my baby girl is acting fine, and did not puke or poop yet, and it's been 4 hours.
And this post was suppose to celebrate the fact that she is eating a ton of baby food lately and opening her mouth so well...anyway, after she almost finished the guava she took half a jar of another baby food (that I inspected throughly), so I guess that counts as her eating more than 1 jar of baby food this morning.
I'll update you all on the findings of whatever that was. I'm afraid to even find out.
Happy long weekend!
***Edited*** Ok, I think I was in denial earlier and couldn't bear looking closely at whatever that was. I just looked even closer at it, and took some pictures that didn't come out well, and I am convinced it is not guava skin. I don't know what it is, but it looks SCARY! Thank goodness Serena has been acting fine, and is her usual self, otherwise I would be at the Drs. I figure since we don't know what it is and she hasn't thrown up or had any diarrhea, there is nothing the Dr can do now. But looking at this thing, makes me think this may end up being bigger than I originally anticipated. Even if she is okay, this was found in her baby food...this is unacceptable to say the least...whatever it is.

Where did my little babies go?!?!
I swear...I have no idea. My teanie tiny little babies are no more. I have big, huge kids now! Edwin's hands are MASSIVE...they look like a 2 year old's hands. My Beanie girl is nearly crawling all over the place, and can stand up while holding onto things. Edwin is now able to balance enough to maintain a sitting position with limited assistance from the Boppy pillow, and Beanie girl is sitting unassisted and able to reach out and grab toys while supporting herself with her other hand...who taught her that? Who knows...I just wake up and they look 10 times bigger than the day before, are 10 times more alert, and 10 times stronger. It's amazing how fast the time goes.
I saw a very small 2 month old today. He was so tiny in his big carseat. I can hardly believe S&E were ever that small...let alone weighing only a pound less than a year ago. I am so excited at how far they've come, but a part of me is sad...my babies are growing up too fast!
In eating news, today, as they've been doing all week, between the two of them, S&E finished a whole jar of baby food in one sitting. They have both been taking 1/2 a jar at each feeding. I'm so proud. Beanie is doing much better with opening her mouth and taking her baby food from the spoon. We still have an OT appointment coming up, but I feel a little less nervous about some kind of feeding aversion than I did a few weeks ago.
Socially, they are playing more with each other. They definitely have their own language between the two of them, and just a few seconds ago they were on their bellies looking at each other, smiling and going back and forth "talking" to each other. They also want the toy that other has. Serena still dominates in the fine motor department, but Edwin has made major progress in the past 3 weeks, and now grabs toys out of Beanie's hands! Beanie then makes her dinosaur noise and grabs it back. They are too funny.
They get HUGE smiles when they see me or other people they love...like Daddy, Grammy, and their nurses. They even gave HUGE smiles to our EI worker today. They are currently into toys that light up and make noise including their pulse ox monitors. Speaking of O2 related things, Serena is tolerating sleeping without O2 for anywhere from 5 minutes to 35 minutes, but eventually needs some flow which is due to her airway issues, which hopefully will resolve as she gets bigger. Mr Champ is still on 400ccs, as we are only weaning by 50ccs a month. We have an appointment next month and I am hoping we can increase the wean to biweekly as he sats at 99-100 all the time. We just have to make sure his EKG comes back with no pulmonary hypertension. We will be praying for good news with that.
All in all, they are getting big...I wish I knew how big exactly but we don't have an infant scale :( They are having fun playing, exploring their world, and enjoying being the center of our world. I can't believe we will be celebrating their first birthday next month...yikes I have to make out those invitations!!!!
